Accessibility Statement for EK runs – Shaping the future
We are committed to providing a website that is accessible to the widest possible audience, regardless of circumstance and ability. We aim to adhere as closely as possible to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 Level AA, published by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C).
Our Platform: Wix.com
This website is built using the Wix.com platform. Wix is committed to ensuring that its infrastructure and products are as accessible as possible. You can review the Wix Accessibility Statement for more information on the platform’s foundational accessibility features.
Our Accessibility Efforts
To ensure our fundraiser information and registration processes are inclusive for all Michigan participants, we have taken the following steps using the Wix Accessibility Wizard and other tools:
-
Logical Structure: We have organized the site's heading structure and DOM (Document Object Model) order to ensure a logical experience for screen reader users.
-
Keyboard Navigation: We have enabled visual indicators (focus rings) and ensured that all interactive elements, such as registration buttons and donation forms, are accessible via keyboard.
-
Visual Design: We have audited our color palette to ensure a contrast ratio of at least 4.5:1 for standard text, meeting WCAG 2.2 standards.
Michigan Compliance & Legal Standards
In accordance with the Michigan Persons with Disabilities Civil Rights Act (PWDCRA) and the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), we strive to provide "effective communication" for all users. We recognize that as a fundraiser serving the public, digital accessibility is a critical component of our event's success and legal compliance in 2026.
Known Limitations
While we strive for full compliance, some limitations may exist:
-
Third-Party Widgets: Certain third-party apps or race-timing integrations added to our Wix site may not fully conform to Level AA standards.
-
User-Generated Content: Content such as community-uploaded photos in our gallery may lack detailed descriptions.
